The B&R X20CP3586 is the highest-performance controller in the CompactFlash-based X20CP35xx group included in this batch. Its 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 512 MB RAM and 100 µs minimum task-class cycle support complex control programs and fast machine sequences.

Unlike the one-slot X20CP1586, the X20CP3586 provides three modular interface slots and supports controller redundancy. It is therefore better suited to communication-intensive systems and high-availability installations.
