The B&R X20CP1686X is the highest-performance one-slot CPU in this first X20 batch. It features a 1.3 GHz Intel Atom E3930 processor, 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 2 GB onboard eMMC flash and a 100 µs minimum task-class cycle.

Its distinguishing feature is the combination of high memory capacity and Gigabit Ethernet with TSN capability in a compact 150 mm controller. Compared with the X20CP1685, it offers a faster processor, twice the RAM, twice the onboard flash and faster real-time execution.
