The Mecair VNP220 is a high-flow pulse jet diaphragm valve designed for reverse-pulse filter cleaning in large dust collectors and baghouse systems.

Its main distinguishing features are the G 2.5-inch female threaded connection, double-diaphragm construction, integrated solenoid pilot and Kv 96 flow coefficient. These characteristics make it suitable for cleaning systems that require a larger compressed-air pulse than smaller 1.5-inch or 2-inch valve configurations.

High-Flow 2.5-Inch Configuration

The VNP220 has the largest threaded connection and highest flow coefficient among the VNP206–VNP220 models listed in the standard threaded-valve range.

Its Kv value of 96 is higher than the Kv 78 rating of the 2-inch VNP216. This additional flow capacity can be useful in dust collectors with larger blowtubes, greater header volume or more filter elements assigned to each cleaning pulse.

A larger valve does not automatically guarantee better filter cleaning. Header pressure, compressed-air volume, pulse duration, nozzle design, blowtube dimensions and filter spacing must all be correctly matched.

The minimum specified operating pressure is 0.6 bar, compared with 0.5 bar for most smaller models in the range.

Double-Diaphragm Operation

The VNP220 uses a main diaphragm and a secondary diaphragm. This construction is used to control the larger airflow associated with its 2.5-inch port.

The coordinated diaphragm movement supports rapid valve opening and closing. A short, concentrated air pulse helps remove accumulated dust from filter bags, cartridges and other filter elements while limiting unnecessary compressed-air discharge.

Both diaphragms, the spring and their associated sealing surfaces must be inspected during maintenance. Replacing only one damaged diaphragm may not restore correct valve operation.

Integrated Solenoid Pilot

The VNP configuration includes a solenoid pilot mounted directly on the valve. It accepts an electrical pulse from a compatible dust-collector controller and initiates the diaphragm opening sequence.

Installation and Selection Notes

The VNP220 is a pneumatic pulse-cleaning valve and is not intended for hydraulic-pump circuits or liquid service.

Use filtered, oil-free compressed air within the specified 0.6–7.5 bar pressure range.

Confirm that the pipework uses a compatible G 2.5-inch female threaded connection. Do not assume that NPT or another thread standard is interchangeable.
