Description
1769-IF8 8-Channel Analog Voltage Current Input Module

The 1769-IF8 is an eight-channel analog input module designed to acquire voltage and current signals from industrial transmitters and sensors.

Its main advantage is higher channel density than the four-channel 1769-IF4. The module supports common voltage signals and 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA current loops, allowing one module to monitor several process variables within a compact control panel.

The inputs can be configured for differential or single-ended wiring according to the signal source and installation environment. Delta-Sigma conversion and up to 16-bit resolution provide stable measurement for machine and process monitoring.

The module does not supply transmitter loop power. Compatible external power must be provided for connected current-loop devices.

Key Features

  • Eight analog input channels
  • Voltage and current signal support
  • 4–20 mA transmitter compatibility
  • Differential or single-ended wiring
  • Up to 16-bit resolution
  • Delta-Sigma signal conversion
  • Automatic calibration
  • Compact modular construction

Typical Applications

  • Pressure and flow monitoring
  • Temperature transmitters
  • Level measurement
  • Position feedback
  • Multi-sensor machine systems

Eight-Channel Signal Acquisition

The 1769-IF8 provides twice the channel count of the 1769-IF4, reducing the number of modules required in applications with several analog sensors.

Supported signal ranges include:

  • ±10 V DC
  • 0–10 V DC
  • 0–5 V DC
  • 1–5 V DC
  • 0–20 mA
  • 4–20 mA

Differential and Single-Ended Wiring

Differential wiring is useful where improved noise rejection is required.

Single-ended wiring can simplify connections when field devices share a suitable signal reference.

The selected wiring method must match the module configuration and transmitter circuit.

External Loop Power

The 1769-IF8 does not power connected analog transmitters.

For 4–20 mA devices, use an external power supply that matches:

  • Transmitter voltage requirements
  • Loop resistance
  • Wiring arrangement
  • Module input configuration

1769-IF8 vs 1769-IF4

1769-IF8

8 analog input channels

Higher signal density

Suitable for multi-sensor systems

1769-IF4

4 analog input channels

Lower channel density

Suitable for smaller machines

Installation Notes

  • Confirm voltage or current input type
  • Select the correct signal range
  • Use shielded analog cable
  • Separate signal and power wiring
  • Provide external transmitter power
  • Configure channel scaling
  • Test each input before operation

FAQ

Q1: How many inputs does 1769-IF8 provide?

A1: It provides eight analog input channels.

Q2: Does it support 4–20 mA transmitters?

A2: Yes, when the channel is configured for the appropriate current range.

Q3: Does the module supply loop power?

A3: No. Current-loop transmitters require a compatible external power supply.

Q4: Can it read voltage signals?

A4: Yes. It supports several standard unipolar and bipolar voltage ranges.

Q5: What is the main difference from 1769-IF4?

A5: The 1769-IF8 provides eight channels, while the 1769-IF4 provides four.
