The B&R X20CP1684 is a compact PLC controller for modular X20 automation systems. It combines PLC processing, communication interfaces, removable application storage, and one interface expansion slot in a single controller module.
This model is designed for machines that need deterministic controller communication through POWERLINK together with standard Ethernet connectivity. The integrated TSN Ethernet interface supports 10/100/1000BASE-T communication, while the POWERLINK interface is used for real-time automation networks.
The X20CP1684 includes 512 MB DDR4 RAM, 1 MB SRAM, and 1 GB onboard flash memory. A removable CompactFlash card can be used as application memory, allowing program and machine-data handling through a replaceable storage medium.
Unlike an I/O module, servo drive, or HMI panel, the X20CP1684 is the central PLC controller. It manages machine logic, communication, sequencing, and connected X20 automation modules within the control system.
