Description
GYS201D5-RC2 Fuji Electric ALPHA5 Smart Servo Motor 200W Keyed Shaft

The GYS201D5-RC2 is a 200 W ALPHA5 Smart GYS Series AC servo motor developed for compact motion axes requiring rapid acceleration, precise incremental feedback and a positive keyed mechanical connection.

Its ultra-low inertia rotor supports frequent starts, stops and direction changes. The motor operates at 3000 r/min rated speed and can reach up to 6000 r/min for short-cycle feeding, indexing and positioning applications.

A 20-bit incremental encoder provides high-resolution position and speed feedback to the compatible servo amplifier.

The defining feature of the RC2 configuration is its keyed shaft with a tapped center hole. This makes it different from the keyless GYS201D5-RB2 and better suited to keyed couplings, timing pulleys and compact gear mechanisms.

Key Features

  • 200 W rated output
  • Ultra-low inertia GYS design
  • 20-bit incremental encoder
  • 3000 r/min rated speed
  • 6000 r/min maximum speed
  • Keyed shaft with center thread
  • 0.637 N·m rated torque
  • Non-brake configuration

Typical Applications

  • Timing-belt positioning axes
  • Compact indexing mechanisms
  • Precision feeding equipment
  • Packaging machinery
  • Existing ALPHA5 Smart systems

Keyed and Tapped Shaft Configuration

The RC2 shaft configuration provides:

  • Positive torque transmission
  • Compatibility with keyed couplings
  • Secure pulley or gear mounting
  • Center-thread retention capability
  • Reduced risk of coupling slip

This is the main mechanical difference from the RB2 keyless version.

20-Bit Incremental Encoder

The integrated 20-bit incremental encoder provides feedback for:

  • Position control
  • Speed regulation
  • Repetitive indexing
  • Servo-loop tuning
  • Smooth low-speed movement

As an incremental encoder configuration, the machine generally requires a homing or position-reference procedure after startup.

Ultra-Low Inertia Performance

The GYS rotor design is optimized for dynamic machine motion.

Benefits include:

  • Rapid acceleration
  • Rapid deceleration
  • Short positioning cycles
  • Frequent forward and reverse operation
  • Responsive lightweight load control

It is better suited to fast compact axes than applications requiring very high continuous torque.

Speed and Torque Capability

Rated Output

200 W

Rated Speed

3000 r/min

Maximum Speed

6000 r/min

Rated Torque

0.637 N·m

Maximum Torque

1.91 N·m

Maximum torque is intended for temporary acceleration and deceleration and is not a continuous operating value.

Non-Brake Configuration

GYS201D5-RC2 does not include an electromagnetic holding brake.

It is suitable for:

  • Horizontal motion axes
  • Rotary indexing mechanisms
  • Belt-driven axes
  • Non-suspended machine loads

For vertical or gravity-loaded applications, the brake-equipped GYS201D5-RC2-B should be evaluated.

No Oil Seal Configuration

The standard GYS201D5-RC2 configuration does not include a shaft oil seal.

Avoid continuous exposure of the shaft area to:

  • Cutting oil
  • Coolant
  • Lubricating oil
  • Process liquid
  • Heavy contamination

Additional mechanical protection may be required where liquid exposure is unavoidable.

GYS201D5-RC2 vs GYS201D5-RB2

GYS201D5-RC2

200 W

20-bit incremental encoder

Keyed shaft with tapped center hole

No holding brake

GYS201D5-RB2

200 W

20-bit incremental encoder

Straight shaft without key

No holding brake

The principal difference is the mechanical shaft connection.

GYS201D5-RC2 vs GYS201D5-RC2-B

GYS201D5-RC2

No holding brake

Suitable for horizontal axes

GYS201D5-RC2-B

Integrated holding brake

Suitable for stationary load holding

The brake-equipped motor has different length, mass and wiring requirements.

GYS201D5-RC2 vs GYS201D5-HC2

GYS201D5-RC2

20-bit incremental encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

GYS201D5-HC2

18-bit absolute/incremental encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

The primary difference is the feedback configuration.

GYS201D5-RC2 vs GYS101D5-RA2

GYS201D5-RC2

200 W

0.637 N·m rated torque

Keyed shaft with center thread

GYS101D5-RA2

100 W

0.318 N·m rated torque

Keyed shaft for the smaller frame

The 200 W motor provides greater continuous and acceleration torque.

Compatible Amplifier

The documented compatible amplifier is:

RYH201F5-VV2

Before replacement, verify:

  • Servo amplifier reference
  • Motor power cable
  • Encoder cable
  • Controller command interface
  • Shaft key dimensions
  • Center-thread dimensions
  • Flange mounting dimensions
  • Load inertia
  • Brake requirement

Matching only the 200 W rating does not confirm complete compatibility.

Legacy Equipment Replacement

When replacing a motor in an existing ALPHA5 Smart system, record:

  • Complete motor model
  • Amplifier model
  • Cable references
  • Servo parameters
  • Electronic gearing
  • Homing procedure
  • Coupling position
  • Shaft key orientation

A different shaft or encoder version may require mechanical or control-system changes.

Installation Notes

  • Disconnect all servo-system power
  • Confirm the keyed RC2 shaft configuration
  • Use the correct key and coupling
  • Check center-bolt thread compatibility
  • Align motor and load shafts accurately
  • Do not strike the shaft or encoder
  • Protect the unsealed shaft area from liquid
  • Restore servo parameters
  • Test positioning at low speed
