Description
GYS401DC1-CA Fuji Electric FALDIC-Alpha Servo Motor 400W 3000RPM

The GYS401DC1-CA is a 400 W FALDIC-Alpha GYS Series AC servo motor designed for motion axes requiring rapid acceleration, accurate positioning and a narrow motor profile.

Its ultra-low inertia rotor helps the motor respond quickly to frequent starts, stops and direction changes. The 3000 r/min rated speed and 5000 r/min maximum speed make it suitable for compact feeding, indexing and transfer mechanisms.

A 16-bit incremental encoder provides motor-position and speed feedback to the compatible servo amplifier.

This exact model does not include a holding brake. It is therefore best suited to horizontal axes or mechanisms that do not require the motor to hold a suspended load after servo power is removed.

Key Features

  • 400 W rated output
  • Ultra-low inertia rotor
  • Slim GYS motor body
  • 3000 r/min rated speed
  • 5000 r/min maximum speed
  • 1.27 N·m rated torque
  • 16-bit incremental encoder
  • Non-brake motor configuration

Typical Applications

  • Product feeding axes
  • Labeling equipment
  • Indexing mechanisms
  • Inspection systems
  • Compact transfer units

Ultra-Low Inertia GYS Design

The GYS Series uses a slim, ultra-low inertia motor design.

Lower rotor inertia supports:

  • Faster acceleration
  • Faster deceleration
  • Shorter positioning cycles
  • Frequent direction reversal
  • Responsive small-axis control

This differs from choosing a motor primarily for high load inertia or high continuous torque.

Speed and Torque Performance

Rated Speed

3000 r/min

Maximum Speed

5000 r/min

Rated Torque

1.27 N·m

Maximum Torque

3.82 N·m

The maximum-torque value applies to short acceleration and deceleration periods rather than continuous operation.

16-Bit Incremental Feedback

The integrated encoder is a 16-bit incremental type.

It provides feedback for:

  • Motor position
  • Rotational speed
  • Direction of rotation
  • Servo-loop control

The incremental encoder requires the servo system to establish position after startup. It should not be described as an absolute encoder.

Non-Brake Configuration

GYS401DC1-CA does not include an electromagnetic holding brake.

This configuration is suitable for:

  • Horizontal conveyor axes
  • Feed rollers
  • Indexing tables
  • Non-suspended mechanisms
  • Applications with an external holding device

For a motor with an integrated holding brake, the exact brake-equipped reference must be selected rather than assuming that the standard motor contains a brake.

GYS401DC1-CA vs GYS401DC1-CA-B

GYS401DC1-CA

400 W output

16-bit incremental encoder

No holding brake

Approximately 1.8 kg

GYS401DC1-CA-B

400 W output

16-bit incremental encoder

Integrated holding brake

Longer and heavier motor body

The brake-equipped version is generally selected for vertical or gravity-loaded axes.

GYS401DC1-CA vs GYS401DC1-SA

GYS401DC1-CA

16-bit incremental encoder

Legacy FALDIC-Alpha configuration

Non-brake version

GYS401DC1-SA

16-bit ABS/INC encoder configuration

Different feedback and amplifier compatibility

Non-brake version

The two references should not be treated as direct substitutes without checking the servo amplifier, encoder cable and control-system requirements.

GYS vs GYC Motor Construction

GYS Series

Slim motor body

Ultra-low rotor inertia

Suitable for fast-response compact axes

GYC Series

Cubic motor construction

Different rotor inertia and mounting dimensions

Suitable for applications requiring the corresponding cubic frame

Even when output and speed are similar, GYS and GYC motors differ mechanically and should not be interchanged without checking dimensions and load inertia.

Compatibility Notes

Before replacing the motor, verify:

  • Full motor reference
  • Servo amplifier model
  • Encoder feedback type
  • Motor power connector
  • Encoder cable
  • Shaft diameter and key
  • Flange dimensions
  • Load inertia
  • Brake requirement

Matching only the 400 W power rating is not sufficient.

Installation Notes

  • Disconnect servo power before installation
  • Prevent impacts on the motor shaft
  • Align the coupling accurately
  • Avoid excessive radial and axial load
  • Use the specified motor and encoder cables
  • Confirm grounding and shielding
  • Complete servo tuning after replacement
  • Test rotation direction at low speed

FAQ

Q1: What is the rated output of GYS401DC1-CA?

A1: Its rated output is 400 W.

Q2: What is its rated speed?

A2: The rated speed is 3000 r/min, with a maximum speed of 5000 r/min.

Q3: What encoder does it use?

A3: It uses a 16-bit incremental encoder.

Q4: Does this model include a brake?

A4: No. GYS401DC1-CA is the non-brake version.

Q5: What is the rated torque?

A5: Its rated torque is 1.27 N·m.

Q6: Is it a high-inertia motor?

A6: No. It belongs to the slim GYS ultra-low inertia motor family.

Q7: Can GYS401DC1-CA-B replace it?

A7: The brake-equipped version may differ in length, weight, wiring and application requirements, so compatibility must be checked first.
