Description
GYS201D7-EC2 Fuji Electric ALPHA7 Servo Motor 200W 24-Bit ABS Encoder

The GYS201D7-EC2 is a 200 W ALPHA7 GYS7 Series AC servo motor designed for compact motion axes requiring high-resolution absolute feedback, rapid acceleration and a positive keyed mechanical connection.

Its ultra-low inertia rotor supports frequent starts, stops and direction changes. The motor operates at a rated speed of 3000 r/min and reaches up to 6000 r/min for short-cycle feeding, indexing and precision positioning.

A 24-bit absolute encoder provides high-resolution position feedback and supports absolute-position operation when the compatible amplifier, battery and controller configuration are correctly established.

The EC2 configuration combines absolute feedback with a keyed shaft and tapped center hole. It does not include an electromagnetic holding brake.

Key Features

  • 200 W rated output
  • ALPHA7 GYS7 motor platform
  • Ultra-low inertia construction
  • 24-bit absolute encoder
  • 3000 r/min rated speed
  • 6000 r/min maximum speed
  • Keyed and tapped shaft
  • Non-brake configuration

Typical Applications

  • Precision indexing axes
  • Packaging machinery
  • Electronic assembly equipment
  • High-speed feeding systems
  • Compact positioning mechanisms

24-Bit Absolute Encoder

The integrated 24-bit absolute encoder is the main difference of GYS201D7-EC2.

It provides high-resolution feedback for:

  • Absolute position detection
  • Precise positioning
  • Speed regulation
  • Repetitive indexing
  • Servo-loop tuning

Absolute position retention depends on the amplifier, battery, parameters and controller configuration.

The motor should not be advertised as batteryless unless the complete system is specifically configured for batteryless absolute operation.

ALPHA7 Platform

GYS201D7-EC2 belongs to the ALPHA7 motor generation.

Compared with earlier D5 motors, the D7 platform provides:

  • 24-bit encoder feedback
  • Updated amplifier compatibility
  • Higher control resolution
  • Current-generation system support
  • ALPHA7 and selected ALPHA7S compatibility

A D5 motor should not be replaced with a D7 motor without verifying the amplifier, cables, connectors and control parameters.

Ultra-Low Inertia Performance

The GYS7 rotor design is optimized for fast dynamic response.

It supports:

  • Rapid acceleration
  • Rapid deceleration
  • Short positioning cycles
  • Frequent forward and reverse motion
  • Responsive control of lightweight loads

This motor is better suited to fast machine axes than applications dominated by very high load inertia.

Speed and Torque Performance

Rated Output

200 W

Rated Speed

3000 r/min

Maximum Speed

6000 r/min

Rated Torque

0.637 N·m

Maximum Torque

1.91 N·m

Maximum torque is intended for temporary acceleration and deceleration rather than continuous operation.

Keyed and Tapped Shaft

The EC2 version uses a straight shaft with:

  • Mechanical key
  • Tapped center hole
  • Positive torque transmission
  • Axial retention capability

This shaft configuration is suitable for:

  • Keyed couplings
  • Timing pulleys
  • Compact gears
  • Belt-driven axes

The shaft key, center thread and coupling dimensions must be checked before installation.

Non-Brake Configuration

GYS201D7-EC2 does not include a holding brake.

It is best suited to:

  • Horizontal axes
  • Rotary indexing mechanisms
  • Non-suspended loads
  • Systems with an external holding device

For vertical or gravity-loaded mechanisms, the brake-equipped GYS201D7-EC2-B should be evaluated.

IP67 Motor Structure

The motor uses an IP67 protective construction, excluding the shaft-through section and connector areas.

Installation should still protect:

  • Shaft penetration
  • Motor connectors
  • Encoder connector
  • Cable entry points

IP67 does not mean that every part of the installed motor can remain continuously immersed in liquid.

GYS201D7-EC2 vs GYS201D7-EC2-B

GYS201D7-EC2

200 W

24-bit absolute encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

No holding brake

GYS201D7-EC2-B

200 W

24-bit absolute encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

Integrated holding brake

The brake-equipped model is intended for stationary load retention.

GYS201D7-EC2 vs GYS201D7-NC2

GYS201D7-EC2

24-bit absolute encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

No brake

GYS201D7-NC2

24-bit incremental encoder

The primary difference is absolute versus incremental feedback.

GYS201D7-EC2 vs GYS201D7-EB2

GYS201D7-EC2

24-bit absolute encoder

Keyed shaft with tapped center hole

GYS201D7-EB2

24-bit absolute encoder

Straight shaft without key

The main difference is the shaft-end construction.

GYS201D7-EC2 vs GYS201D5-RC2

GYS201D7-EC2

ALPHA7 generation

24-bit absolute encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

Current D7 platform

GYS201D5-RC2

ALPHA5 Smart generation

20-bit incremental encoder

Keyed and tapped shaft

Earlier D5 platform

Although their output and shaft style are similar, their encoder systems, amplifiers and cables are different.

Amplifier Compatibility

GYS201D7-EC2 is intended for a compatible 0.2 kW ALPHA7 or supported ALPHA7S servo amplifier.

Before replacement, verify:

  • Exact amplifier reference
  • Control interface type
  • Motor power cable
  • Encoder cable
  • Absolute-position battery arrangement
  • Connector configuration
  • Firmware and parameters
  • Shaft and flange dimensions

Matching only the 200 W output is not sufficient.

Installation Notes

  • Disconnect all servo-system power
  • Confirm the EC2 keyed shaft configuration
  • Install the correct shaft key
  • Check the center-bolt thread
  • Align the motor and load shafts
  • Verify absolute encoder settings
  • Confirm battery condition where applicable
  • Restore servo parameters
  • Test positioning at low speed
  • Establish the machine origin safely
