The B&R X20SI8110 combines eight type A safe digital inputs with four diagnostic pulse outputs in a single-width 12.5 mm X20 module. This high channel density reduces cabinet space and the number of required bus bases in machines with several emergency-stop, guard or safety-sensor signals.
Compared with X20SI4110, the X20SI8110 doubles the number of safe inputs while keeping the same single-width format. Compared with X20SI9100, it offers lower total channel capacity but requires only one X20TB52 terminal block and is easier to place in smaller distributed stations.
Each input supports configurable software filtering, while the pulse outputs provide a method for diagnosing connected sensor circuits in the validated safety application.
The X20SI8110 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: How does X20SI8110 differ from X20SI4110?
A: X20SI8110 provides eight safe inputs instead of four while retaining the same 12.5 mm single-width format.
Q: How does it compare with X20SI9100?
A: X20SI9100 provides 20 inputs in a 25 mm module and requires two terminal blocks. X20SI8110 provides eight inputs with one terminal block.
Q: How many pulse outputs are available?
A: Four 50 mA nominal push-pull pulse outputs are provided.
Q: Which bus module is required?
A: Use a single-width X20BM13 or X20BM16 safety bus module.
Q: Can the software filter be set per channel?
A: Yes. The input filter is configurable individually from 0 to 500 ms.
Q: Does installing the module by itself achieve PL e?
A: No. PL e or SIL 3 depends on the correctly designed and validated complete safety function.
