The B&R X20SL8110 is a programmable SafeLOGIC controller designed for safety systems that need an additional X20 interface module. It coordinates openSAFETY communication, executes SafeDESIGNER applications and manages safety-related parameters for up to 280 SafeNODEs.
Compared with the X20SL8101, the defining feature is its communication expansion slot. The X20SL8110 can accept one compatible X20 interface module, whereas the X20SL8101 integrates an X20 bus controller for direct local I/O expansion. This makes the X20SL8110 the more appropriate choice when an installed safety architecture depends on a specific fieldbus interface.
Its POWERLINK controlled-node interface uses an integrated two-port hub and supports a minimum fieldbus cycle of 200 µs. The SafeKEY is removable and must be ordered with the required safety function range.
The X20SL8110 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain.
