The B&R X20SO4120 provides four type A safe semiconductor outputs rated at 2 A per channel. Its 5 A total-current limit gives it substantially more load capacity than X20SO4110 while preserving current monitoring, open-circuit detection and positive/negative switching for floating actuators.
The critical selection difference is that four channels cannot all be assumed to deliver 2 A simultaneously: B&R specifies a 5 A total nominal current for the module. Load distribution, inrush current and thermal derating must therefore be calculated for the actual actuator combination.
This module is intended for machinery with several higher-current contactors, valves or approved 24 VDC safety actuators concentrated in one X20 station.
The X20SO4120 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: Can all four outputs provide 2 A at the same time?
A: Not at full current simultaneously. The module has a 5 A total nominal current limit that must be respected.
