The B&R X20SI4110 is a space-saving SafeIO module with four type A digital inputs and four pulse outputs in a 12.5 mm single-width housing. It is intended for safety sensors such as emergency-stop contacts, guard switches and other 24 VDC devices used in openSAFETY systems.
Its key advantage over the X20SI4100 is cabinet density. Both models provide four safe inputs, but the X20SI4110 occupies half the pitch and requires a single-width X20BM13 or X20BM16 bus module. This difference is important when replacing modules because the base and mechanical format are not interchangeable.
Per-channel input filtering and diagnostic pulses support reliable sensor monitoring while preserving a compact X20 station layout.
The X20SI4110 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: Why is X20SI4110 called a single-width module?
A: Its pitch is 12.5 mm, compared with the 25 mm format used by X20SI4100.
Q: Can it replace X20SI4100 without changing the base?
A: No. The single-width X20SI4110 uses X20BM13 or X20BM16, while X20SI4100 uses the wider X20BM33 or X20BM36 format.
Q: How many pulse outputs are provided?
A: It provides four pulse outputs for diagnostic sensor wiring.
Q: Which terminal block is required?
A: One X20TB52 12-pin safety-keyed terminal block is required.
Q: Does it run as a standalone safety relay?
A: No. It is a networked SafeIO module that requires a compatible safety controller and validated openSAFETY configuration.
Q: What should be checked before service replacement?
A: Check the model, hardware revision, firmware, bus module, terminal assignment and SafeDESIGNER project before commissioning the replacement.
