The B&R X20SO2120 is a two-channel type A safe output module rated at 2 A per channel and 4 A total. It is intended for floating 24 VDC actuators that demand more current than the X20SO2110 can provide while still requiring output monitoring and integrated semiconductor protection.
Compared with X20SO2110, the channel count and type A architecture are unchanged, but the nominal current rises from 0.5 A to 2 A per channel. This makes X20SO2120 suitable for larger contactors, valve groups or other approved safety loads with higher continuous-current requirements.
The final load selection must still consider inrush current, output capacitance and inductive switching behavior, not only the 2 A steady-state rating.
The X20SO2120 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: How much output current does X20SO2120 provide?
A: It is rated at 2 A per channel with a total nominal current of 4 A.
Q: How is it different from X20SO2110?
A: X20SO2120 offers four times the nominal current per channel: 2 A instead of 0.5 A.
Q: Is it suitable for loads tied to a reference potential?
A: Type A outputs are intended for floating actuators. Reference-potential loads may require an appropriate type B output architecture.
Q: Does it monitor the load current?
A: Yes. Current monitoring is used for open-circuit diagnostics.
Q: Which base and terminal are required?
A: Use X20BM33 or X20BM36 with one X20TB52 terminal block.
Q: Can I select it only by continuous current?
A: No. Check inrush current, inductive energy, capacitance, wiring and the safety response requirements.
