The B&R X20SO2110 provides two 0.5 A type A safe semiconductor outputs for floating 24 VDC actuators such as contactors, relays and valves. Each channel uses positive and negative switching paths, allowing the actuator connection to be safely interrupted under defined fault conditions.
This model is the lower-current counterpart to X20SO2120. Both have two type A outputs and current monitoring, but X20SO2110 is rated at 0.5 A per channel and 1 A total. It is a practical choice when diagnostic current monitoring is required without the higher 2 A channel capacity.
Open-circuit detection, integrated output protection and restart protection after network faults support maintainable safety-output circuits.
The X20SO2110 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: What is the difference between X20SO2110 and X20SO2120?
A: X20SO2110 is rated at 0.5 A per output, while X20SO2120 is rated at 2 A per output.
Q: What does type A output mean?
A: The channel uses positive and negative switching paths and is intended for floating actuators without an external reference potential.
Q: Does the module detect an open load?
A: Yes. It uses internal current measurement for open-circuit monitoring.
Q: What accessories are required?
A: One X20BM33 or X20BM36 bus module and one X20TB52 safety-keyed terminal block are required.
Q: Can it switch any 24 VDC load?
A: No. Confirm steady-state current, inrush current, inductive energy, capacitance and the approved output application before selection.
Q: Does the 0.5 A rating guarantee SIL 3?
A: No. The output module is one part of a complete safety function that must be engineered and validated.
