The B&R X20SI4100 provides four type A safe digital inputs and four pulse outputs for monitoring emergency-stop contacts, safety switches and other 24 VDC safety devices. Individually configurable software filters allow the switch-on and switch-off behavior of each input to be adapted to the application.
Unlike the single-width X20SI4110, the X20SI4100 uses the conventional 25 mm SafeIO format. This makes it especially relevant for direct replacement in established machines whose wiring, bus module and cabinet layout were designed around the original double-width module.
The diagnostic pulse outputs help detect wiring faults when used with suitable potential-free contacts. Pulse-output current and other details can vary by hardware revision, so the exact revision must be checked during replacement engineering.
The X20SI4100 can be used in safety-related applications up to PL e or SIL 3 only when the complete safety function is correctly engineered, configured, commissioned and validated. The achievable safety level depends on the full sensor, logic, communication, wiring and actuator chain. Check the exact hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio hardware definition and SafeDESIGNER project before replacing an installed module.
Q: What is the difference between X20SI4100 and X20SI4110?
A: Both provide four safe inputs and four pulse outputs. X20SI4100 has a 25 mm pitch, while X20SI4110 is a 12.5 mm single-width module.
Q: What are the pulse outputs used for?
A: They can provide test pulses for detecting cross-circuits or wiring faults when used with suitable safety contacts and approved wiring.
Q: Can the input filter be adjusted?
A: Yes. The software input filter is configurable per channel from 0 to 500 ms.
Q: Which accessories are required?
A: Use one X20BM33 or X20BM36 safety bus module and one X20TB52 safety-keyed terminal block.
Q: Can X20SI4100 operate without SafeLOGIC?
A: No. It is a SafeIO module and must be integrated into a correctly configured openSAFETY system.
Q: Can any hardware revision be exchanged without checking the project?
A: No. Confirm the hardware revision, firmware, Automation Studio definition, pulse-output data and validated safety configuration before replacement.
